Smiles and merrymaking prevailed on 18 December during Cosmo Mall’s Christmas Experience, which community members attended alongside Hlanganani Orphan Care children.
Roots Butchery, McDonalds and Pick’n Pay united to sponsor the Christmas celebrations, with a focus on giving back to the community, according to the Cosmo Mall Marketing Manager Katlego Lauren.
“We had to give back to Hlanganani Orphan Care children,” she said. “We are still living in pandemic, and most people cannot afford to spend a lot of money. So we decided to give away food hampers as a way of thanking customers who have been supporting us in the past year. We are also running a sale at the mall. Our customers can enjoy festive season discounts from our tenants.”
Through raffle tickets, Roots Butchery gave away home appliances worth R20 000, Lauren said. “Pick’n Pay also ran a competition whereby customers got a chance to win grocery hampers by taking a selfie at a Christmas tree. Community members also won prizes through dancing competitions. We thank the Cosmo City and Diepsloot communities for their support, and we wish them a happy festive season.”
It is a good thing to see children happy and celebrating Christmas, said Marceline Zibusiso Moyo of Hlanganani Orphan Care.
“Most of the children we have are from vulnerable communities,” she said. “It was a great opportunity for the kids to come to the mall and play.”
